Quick answer

Any repo's history as a two-minute film: branches peel and rejoin, releases pinned, a daily heatmap on the same axis, and holds that zoom in on real releases and reverts with figures read from git. Avatars included.

What this skill does

A year of mrdoob/three.js, played

Watch the showcase (2 min): https://loreto.io/demo/git-timeline-three-2019.89273429.mp4

Point it at any local or public GitHub repository and get a film: commits flow along a time axis, branches peel away and rejoin, releases are pinned, a daily commit heatmap runs beneath the flow on the same axis — and three times the clock stops, on a release or a revert, to zoom in with figures read out of the history. Author avatars on every card, resolved from GitHub.

The showcase is mrdoob/three.js, 2019: 5,320 commits, 2,172 on the main line, 47 branches drawn across four lanes, twelve monthly releases r101→r112. It stops on r106 (259 commits since r105), on a WebGLInfo: Clean up. commit that was reverted after one day, and on r112 to close the year.

Nothing on screen is composed. Every commit, tag, author, date and number is read from git by scripts/extract_history.py into one scene.json; the Remotion composition draws only that. A test builds a small repository on the spot and checks every claim the film would make about it.

What you get - scripts/extract_history.py — repo → scene (spine, significant branches, tags, daily heat, whole-life density, focus events, avatars) - remotion/ — the composition, the clock (timing.ts), fonts, and a one-month example scene so npm run studio works immediately - SKILL.md with the tuning knobs, anti-patterns and edge cases; two references; the test

Requirements: Python 3.10+, git, Node 18+. Optional: the gh CLI signed in, for avatars at 5,000 requests/hour (60/hour without).

Built by Enigma. Loreto palette and type throughout.
